Bad Builders: Bang to RightsHot Doors and Dominic Littlewood, the presenter on ITV’s new series Bad Builders: Bang to Rights, came to the rescue of a home owner from West Sussex who’s house had been left resembling a building site by rogue builders.

Betty Hall, 84, and her son Trevor decided to move in together after Betty was widowed seven years ago and her son went through a marriage breakdown. Both were looking for a fresh start so they purchased a run-down house in the countryside that they were going to invest in and renovate.

Their plan was to extend the house with two new bedrooms that included en-suite bathrooms, fit a brand new modern kitchen, dining room and lounge and also install a new central heating system. Eleven months and £111,000 later, the work undertaken by the contractors had ground to a halt and no progress was being made with the house, because of this Betty and Trevor were left with no other option but to sack the builders.

After such an ordeal and investment, Dominic Littlewood and his team of experts stepped in to finish the job. With a very small budget left and working to a short time frame, the production team at ITV enlisted our help to supply the replacement kitchen cupboard doors.

Portland Ivory Shaker Replacement Kitchen Cupboard DoorsBecause of the countryside location, it was agreed that our Portland Ivory Shaker range would be an ideal option to create a room that’s contemporary yet classic. We supplied the replacement doors, pelmets, cornices and panels to give the room a completely new and fresh look! By choosing to replace the doors and not the whole kitchen we were able to transform the area, without a huge investment.

By the end of the show Betty and her son Trevor had a stunning, yet functional fully fitted kitchen, a gorgeous dining room and bedrooms as well as a working central heating system!

We are very proud to have been able to get involved and not only transform their home, but transform their lives for the better. The majority of tradesmen are reputable and hard working, but for those that are unlucky enough to hire a bad work man the effects are utterly devastating, so we’re glad we were able to help and make a positive difference.
